On March 8, Isaac Lera and Carlos Guerrero presented their research work entitled "Análisis de Información de Redes Sociales Deportivas para facilitar la Gestión y Explotación de Recursos Naturales" in the First International Congress of Mountains, Sierra Nevada 2018, in Granada.

The research starts from data contained in social networks specialized in sports activities since they are a reflection of human behavior and its interaction with the environment during their free time. In this study, the large volume of trajectories recorded in these platforms has been converted into complex networks, with which, through their topological characteristics, indicators can be obtained that serve to improve exploitation plans and protection of natural resources. The modeling of journeys as networks is based on detecting crossings, starts and ends of activities together with their temporal distribution. With this transformation, they have analyzed two case studies. In the first case, the accesses of trails have been compared to two peaks with different weather conditions. In the second, the network of ski slopes in Sierra Nevada has been analyzed. This topological analysis opens the door to new exploitation procedures.

About CIMAS

CIMAS 2018 has the decided will to become a conference of international reference for its excellence in the organization, for the quality of the contents, for the prestige of its speakers and, above all, for proposing and defending the multidisciplinarity and transversality in the scientific proposals and to favor the hypotheses that integrate different visions that help to guarantee the economic sustainability, the wealth and ecological variety and the respect to the environment through the knowledge of its natural and human landscapes.

The mission of CIMAS is to become a forum for exposure, discussion and consensus in which to contribute knowledge and innovative ideas to make development and conservation compatible.
