On April 23rd, Carlos Guerrero and Isaac Lera attended the third edition of the IEEE International Conference on Fog and Mobile Edge Computing (FMEC 2018) where they presented the paper entitled "Comparing Centrality Indices for Network Usage Optimization of Data Placement Policies in Fog Devices."

This work raises the possibility of modeling Fog architectures through the use of complex networks where different devices (cloud service providers, fog devices, sensors, etc ...) are the nodes and their interconnections are represented by the edges. The work proposes using metrics of said complex networks to decide where to store the data generated in the sensors, selecting the nodes (or fog devices) closest to all the data sources. Several indices of centrality have been evaluated on three different network topologies and the results obtained have been compared with the YAFS simulator (https://github.com/acsicuib/YAFS).

This work is framed within the national project ORD-COT (TIN2017-88547-P AEI / FEDER, EU) and has been considered as one of the three best articles of the conference, having been nominated for the "Best paper" award.
