The possibilities of financing projects that coordinate these bodies has been the central issue in the EUREKATOURISM+ Meeting celebrated by those responsible for Turistec and the Faculty of Tourism of the University of the Balearic Islands, with researchers and research groups of the UIB linked to ICT-Tourism environment.
The director of Turistec and head of the secretariat of the umbrella tourism and vice president of the cluster for EUREKATOURISM+, Elena Villa and Carlos Juiz respectively, have explained to attendees how Eureka, which concentrates more than 40 countries, carries out projects through partners all thanks to a decentralized structure linking the support and funding to each state associated with the network. Thus, Eureka catalyzes and coordinates European level, but accommodates funds to the priorities of each country.
In the past 30 years it has been allocated over 36,000 million € to fund more than 5,700 projects. In addition, 11,300 SMEs, 7,300 large companies, almost 4,000 research centers and more than 3,800 universities have been supported in their initiatives with European public funds thanks to a solid, simple and accessible framework. Turistec has led researchers from the university the message that a good project (always focused on market, in this case) can have access to public funds.
The cluster has put on the table their willingness to advise, accompany and inform stakeholders, or put them in touch with the right partners for each initiative. He also invited them to use the tools available in order to the research effort that can be useful for society is not left in a drawer.
