Carlos Juiz discussed in UIDE the importance of the Information Technology Government in Business

During the week of May 30 to 3 June, the Doctor of Computer Science at the University of the Balearic Islands, Carlos Juiz, gave at the UIDE, the academic workshop 'Govern the Information Technology (IT) in the company'. The event addressed the practical procedures for implementing an IT Governance framework based on the ISO/IEC standard 38500. In addition two talks with representatives of the business sector in the area, such as Empresa Electrica de Quito, were made.

On Thursday night June 2, Dr. Juiz gave a lecture to UIDE's undergraduates and graduate in the auditorium Galo Plaza. In the discussion group, academia discussed the importance of ensuring proper governance of Information Technologies for boards.

These academic events are achieved through strategic alliances UIDE has with other higher education institutions of different parts of the world, and this particular event was held based on the ECUGOTIC II project, Convention on International Cooperation with the University of Balearic Islands (UIB), funded by the Autonomous Government of the Balearic Islands and the UIB itself, through XI call for aid for university cooperation projects development - 2014 and 2015.

The objectives of the project, in addition to training, are promoting scientific and technical development and strengthen the University-Business productive sector link, set the future implementation of the framework of IT Governance in UIDE and other pioneering institutions in Ecuador. Another objective was to increase the visibility of UIDE and its impact on the university system in the country and the neighbouring region, in order to strengthen the position of the university in serving its citizens.
