Carlos Juiz has coordinated the sixth chapter of the Study on the Economic, Social and Environmental Prospective of the Balearic Islands' Corporations in the Horizon 2030 (H2030), entitled "Forces of Digital Transformation". In this chapter, the main forces of digital transformation and the areas of economic and social impact for the Balearic Islands are treated in a very summarized way, taking into account the main implications for the future 2030.
Being the objective of the study of the Economic and Social Council (CES) to arrive at a set of recommendations for the competent public authorities and the social agents affected, chapter 6 provides some features of the foundations that will make it possible to derive these recommendations. So in the text are introduced, individually, the technologies that are expected to have more impact on the digital transformation (they already are or can become forces, such as AI, blockchain or robotics), its implications and possible scenarios, and, for each of those forces, some concrete conclusions for the Balearic Islands.
Next, some of the transversal determinant factors for the implementation of these technologies in the Balearic Islands and the challenges that come with their use are developed. In more detail, issues such as cybersecurity, the legal aspects of digital transformation, geotechnologies in the specific territorial area of the Balearic Islands, and, finally, the governance of companies are discussed. Some touches are included on the work environment, business, research, tourism and ICT, etc., which are discussed in other chapters of the CES' full study. Finally, a series of global and specific recommendations are made for the Balearic Islands on the 2030 horizon.
This study can be considered a kind of White Paper, designed to facilitate an orderly and systematized public debate on the 2030 Horizon in the Balearic Islands, being the first part of the commission that the Government made to the CES. This book collects a huge effort from many people who have worked hard last year to order ideas, arguments and, what is equally remarkable, design proposals from the strict evaluation of the data.
