The International Cluster of Information and Communication Technologies applied to Tourism, Turistec, has just celebrated the third edition of the Brokerage Event for the EUREKA Umbrella tourist activity (EUREKATOURISM+), which took place in Madrid this year.

The meeting of intermediation between companies, professionals and organizations - public and private - linked to the ICT-Tourism, gathered a hundred representatives around lectures, workshops and bilateral meetings at the headquarters of the CEOE. The Secretary of the Confederation's R&D&I Committee, César Maurín, spoke at the opening of the day applauding that the new government has integrated into its policies one of the main proposals of the large employers: digitization.

The introduction of the event explained that, according to the latest available data, the contribution of the sectors that generate ICT assets to productivity growth in Spain is 4.3 times higher than its weight in GDP, while that of the intensive sectors in the use of ICT is 2.1 times. All this, which contributes by extension to the economic growth of countries and regions, derives from three effects related to the greatest increase in productivity that corresponds to the ICT sector; The increase in capital endowment per worker (or deepening capital) throughout the economy, and the increase in total factor productivity through technological change entailed by the introduction of new technologies (or overflow effect).

The second part of the Brokerage Event was dedicated to the workshops, introduced and moderated by EUREKATOURISM+ Vice-President, Carlos Juiz, and the Manager of the cluster, also responsible for EUREKA Umbrella Secretariat, Elena Villa.

The last part of the Turistec and EUREKATOURISM+ event consisted of the round of bilateral meetings organized and coordinated by the Fundació Bit through the Europe Enterprise Network (EEN), with a presence in 66 countries. The Director of the Foundation responsible for the implementation of the R&D&I strategies of the Balearic Government, Pere Fuster, was in charge of introducing the meetings reminding the public of Madrid about the advantages of environment, facilities and centre of Knowledge and innovation represented by Parc Bit, the technology park of Mallorca.

The third edition of the International Brokerage Event "Driving Tourism towards digital transformation" has been organized and assisted by the staff of the Turistec Technical Office headed by Elena Villa, and the collaboration of students from the UIB School of Tourism, CESAG and the International School of Protocol of Madrid, that have realized part of their curricular practices in the meeting of intermediation.
