University of Balearic Islands

On May 5, 2017, ACM Celebrations: Informatics for @ll congress was held, where Belén Bermejo and Beatriz Gómez presented a poster about their respective doctoral theses. The Superior Polytechnic School of the University of the Balearic Islands has organized this day with the aim of being a meeting point that allows to share inspiring histories and professional careers that make visible the work and feminine talent that exists in the field of computer science.

Concretely, the work of Belén Bermejo, entitled "What is the cost of virtualization?" shows the need to reduce power consumption in cloud computing systems. The goal is to find out how virtualization affects cloud systems in terms of power consumption and performance as well as demonstrate whether or not the virtualized system is more efficient than the traditional one. The work of Beatriz Gómez, entitled "IT Governance in Public Organizations through dFogIT", points out the need to implement an IT governance framework whereby top executives of any organization can measure the performance of their technologies. Specifically, the dFogIT Framework (detailed Framework of governance for IT) strengthens the principles of good corporate governance and contributes to its implementation

This event is supported by Microsoft Research and ACM-W, an international organization integrated in the Association for Computing Machinery whose mission is to promote the full participation of women in all aspects of computing.
