Carlos Juiz leads the Talent Training and Development working group created by Turistec

The objective of the project led by Dr. Carlos Juiz is to determine the need for specialized personnel in IT within the tourism sector, facilitating the generation of talent in this area

The mission of the new working group formed within the International Cluster of Information and Communication Technologies applied to Tourism (Turistec) is to determine the need for specialized personnel in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) within the tourism sector, to propose and carry out actions that facilitate the generation of a very specific talent to face the new challenges.

Among the objectives set by the project, which will be lead by the UIB doctor Carlos Juiz (vice president for EUREKATOURISM+ in Turistec), stands out in the first place to detect the needs of specialized knowledge and at what level, within the collective of the cluster's partners. Then, it is planned to identify an action plan to develop the required talent and, as Juiz himself indicates, "communicate and transfer those needs to public officials, proposing the support measures that will have been considered in the plan."

Juiz added that "We also want to involve the associates in the generation of talent through their companies and be able to offer a differentiated training offer with the rest of the interested parties." All this envisages concluding in a model type 'hub' connection of Tourism and IT talent, the specific field of Information Technology that, more and more, is required and incorporated into organizations.

In the short term, the actions to capture the so-called 'talent' involve collaborating with the job exchanges of students of vocational training, middle and higher education, and promoting Dual Training. The type of development in which they will work also includes the generation of external talent specialized in incipient technologies. This working group, which is open to the participation of all Turistec partners, joins the three existing ones: Innovation, Political Relations and Communication and Marketing.
